    About

    Precision Engineering.
    Artisan Character.

Metal Fab Lab began as Sumeet Steel Furniture — a name built on decades of trust in Ahmedabad's manufacturing district. Today we bridge structural fabrication with refined craftsmanship, working with clients who require both technical rigour and aesthetic precision.

Everything is produced in-house at our Dudheshwar Road facility. No outsourcing, no compromises on quality, no surprises on delivery. We work with our in-house architects to ensure perfect integration. Whether a single bespoke piece or a full commercial fitout, the standard does not shift.

We work across five primary metals — brass, copper, aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel — each selected for the specific structural and aesthetic demands of the project. See our Materials section for a full guide to each one.

    01

    Fully In-House Production

Design, cutting, welding, and finishing all happen under one roof at our Ahmedabad workshop. Complete quality control at every stage.

    02

    Bespoke by Default

We operate without a catalogue. Every piece is engineered to your precise specification, from first drawing to final installation.

    03

    Architect-Compatible Workflow

We read CAD drawings and technical specifications. Collaboration with design professionals is direct, clear, and without friction.

    04

    Industrial-Grade Finishing

Powder coating, electroplating, patination — protective treatments applied to the standard of pieces built to last decades, not seasons.

    Materials

Crafted in the Right Metal — Every Time

The material is not a finish — it is a decision. Every project we take on begins with choosing the right metal for the job: its structural properties, its surface character, its behaviour over decades of use. We work across five primary metals, each with its own personality, and we will always advise you on which one serves your project best.

    01 — Brass

    Brass

    Warm · Luminous · Timeless
Brass is the metal of warmth and prestige. Its rich amber-gold tone brings immediate luxury to any interior — from hand-turned furniture legs and drawer pulls to full-surface cladding on reception counters and feature walls. Unlike gold plating, solid brass develops a living patina over time: deepening, mellowing, and becoming more characterful with every year of use. We work with brass in sheet, tube, rod, and profile form. Our finishing options include high mirror polish — brilliant and reflective; brushed satin — soft and directional; and unlacquered living finish — left to age naturally into an antique warmth that no paint can replicate. Brass is the material of choice for our private residential clients, luxury hospitality interiors, and any project where warmth and longevity are the priority.

    02 — Copper

    Copper

    Bold · Living · Sculptural
Copper is one of the most visually dramatic metals we work with — and one of the most alive. Freshly fabricated, it glows with a rich burnt-orange warmth. Left untreated, it evolves through deep browns and ambers into the blue-green verdigris of aged copper rooftops and classical sculpture — a finish that cannot be rushed or manufactured, only waited for. We use copper for commissioned wall art, sculptural installations, feature panels, bar surfaces, and statement furniture pieces where a material with genuine character and visual depth is required. We can also apply accelerated patination — using traditional chemical processes — to achieve an aged appearance from day one. Copper is antimicrobial, making it increasingly popular for surfaces in hospitality and healthcare environments. It is also fully recyclable, aligning with sustainable design values. No two copper pieces age identically. That is precisely the point.

    03 — Aluminium

    Aluminium

    Lightweight · Precise · Versatile
Aluminium offers something no other metal in our range can match: exceptional strength at minimal weight. At roughly one-third the density of steel, it can be formed into complex shapes, extruded into precise profiles, and finished to a quality indistinguishable from stainless steel — at a fraction of the structural load. We fabricate aluminium furniture frames, architectural cladding systems, shopfront elements, exhibition structures, and interior screens. Its natural corrosion resistance makes it ideal for outdoor and high-humidity environments where steel would require additional protection. Finishing options include anodising — which produces a hard, colour-stable surface in silver, black, bronze, and custom RAL shades — as well as powder coating in any colour and brushed or polished mill finish. For architects and commercial clients specifying lightweight structures, long-span elements, or outdoor installations, aluminium is frequently our first recommendation.

    04 — Stainless Steel

    Stainless Steel

    Hygienic · Enduring · Refined
Stainless steel is the benchmark material for precision, hygiene, and longevity. Its chromium content makes it inherently resistant to corrosion, staining, and oxidation — properties that make it the material of choice for commercial kitchens, medical environments, high-traffic public spaces, and any application where a maintenance-free surface is essential. But stainless steel is equally at home in luxury residential and hospitality settings. In a mirror-polished finish, it is breathtakingly reflective — amplifying light and space. In a brushed or satin finish, it is quietly sophisticated: tactile, directional, and resistant to fingerprints. We work with 304 grade stainless — the industry standard for indoor architectural and furniture applications — and 316 marine grade for coastal environments and outdoor installations exposed to salt air. Our stainless steel output includes dining tables, kitchen countertops, custom shelving, staircases, railings, balustrades, reception counters, and feature wall panels.

    05 — Mild Steel

    Mild Steel

    Raw · Industrial · Expressive
Mild steel is the workhorse of our workshop and, in the right hands, one of the most expressive materials we work with. Structurally strong, highly weldable, and remarkably affordable relative to its performance, it forms the backbone of our architectural metalwork, structural frames, and the majority of our bespoke furniture range. In its raw, uncoated state — sanded, sealed, and lightly oiled — mild steel has a dark, tactile, industrial quality that has become one of the defining aesthetics of contemporary interior design. Blackened mild steel, in particular, has emerged as the signature material of loft apartments, architect-designed residences, and high-end restaurants worldwide. We also powder coat mild steel in any RAL colour — matte, satin, or gloss — for a durable, weather-resistant surface available in thousands of shades. Hot-dip galvanising is available for outdoor structural applications. If you have seen a piece of furniture you love and do not know what it is made from — there is a strong chance it is mild steel.
